Getting involved

This week I found a lot of ways that I can get involved in things while I’m limited with what I can do. Obviously I’m not allowed to play sport or dance so I need to find different ways to join in.

In sport in school at the moment my class is playing netball. Because I can’t get involved, instead of sitting on the side lines and just watching I try to support my team. I’ve also been helping out by scoring for games so I have a role. It’s been a lot more fun than sitting and watching and it gives me something to do.

My school is also currently preparing for our senior musical Little Shop of Horrors. Because I’m a very musical person and I love musical theatre I was quite annoyed that I wouldn’t be able to participate in it. I really wanted to get involved in some way so I thought I’d ask my singing teacher if there was a way I could maybe help out. She spoke to the director and I’m now a pit singer. While people sing onstage I’ll sing down in the pit with the orchestra and a few other students. I’m so happy I get to be involved in some way and be part of the cast. I even get a cast jumper 🙂

I’ve found it’s just about changing activities in a way that I can get involved until I can start doing more. I’ve also got my appointment with my surgeon on Tuesday so I’m sure I’ll have a lot more to share next week.
