The Most Amazing 5 Weeks Away
So as I mentioned just before I left, for the last 5 weeks I have been in China. When I was leaving I was both very excited and a bit nervous but all I can say is WOW!!! It was such an amazing experience and I loved it sooo much!
I went with my school and because the school has a campus in Nanjing we spent a lot of time in that city. Nanjing isn’t the most well known city in China but it was actually the capital of China during the Ming dynasty all the way back in 1368. There was so much history in Nanjing and we visited many incredible sights there. There are also many E bikes and scooters! Everywhere I went I was constantly on the lookout for the scooters speeding past me, I almost got hit multiple times! Nanjing was great fun and it became my home away from home during my trip.
About a week into the trip we went off to Shanghai. To get there we got the bullet train from Nanjing which only took about an hour and 40 minutes. Once we got there we got 4 days to explore the city. I loved Shanghai! Standing at the Bund and seeing the skyline was amazing. Also I got to go up the Shanghai Tower which is the second tallest building in the world! Shanghai is a completely different city to Nanjing so it was so amazing being there.
Finally after some more time in Nanjing where I had my homestay and a few more activities we set off to Beijing for a few days. To get there we got the overnight train which I thought I would hate but it actually wasn’t that bad and was quite a fun experience. Once in Beijing, it was incredible! I visited soo many famous sites and learnt so much about China’s history. Being in the capital of China and going to many places that everyone has heard of was an amazing opportunity. Also I got the chance to eat some pretty disgusting food and bugs at the night market! My highlight was definitely the Great Wall of China!! It was so surreal that I was actually climbing it and although I was very cold in the -6 degrees I loved every minute of it.
I am sooo grateful to have been able to go on this trip and make such amazing memories at some of the most incredible places in the world!!!
